English - Transliteration
Sorah An-Najm ( The Star ) - Verses Number 62
وَالنَّجْمِ إِذَا هَوَىٰ ( 1 ) 
Wannajmi itha hawa
مَا ضَلَّ صَاحِبُكُمْ وَمَا غَوَىٰ ( 2 )
Ma dalla sahibukum wamaghawa
وَمَا يَنطِقُ عَنِ الْهَوَىٰ ( 3 )
Wama yantiqu AAani alhawa
إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحْيٌ يُوحَىٰ ( 4 )
In huwa illa wahyun yooha
عَلَّمَهُ شَدِيدُ الْقُوَىٰ ( 5 )
AAallamahu shadeedu alquwa
ذُو مِرَّةٍ فَاسْتَوَىٰ ( 6 )
Thoo mirratin fastawa
وَهُوَ بِالْأُفُقِ الْأَعْلَىٰ ( 7 )
Wahuwa bil-ofuqi al-aAAla
ثُمَّ دَنَا فَتَدَلَّىٰ ( 8 )
Thumma dana fatadalla
فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوْسَيْنِ أَوْ أَدْنَىٰ ( 9 )
Fakana qaba qawsayni aw adna
فَأَوْحَىٰ إِلَىٰ عَبْدِهِ مَا أَوْحَىٰ ( 10 )
Faawha ila AAabdihi maawha
مَا كَذَبَ الْفُؤَادُ مَا رَأَىٰ ( 11 )
Ma kathaba alfu-adu maraa
أَفَتُمَارُونَهُ عَلَىٰ مَا يَرَىٰ ( 12 )
Afatumaroonahu AAala mayara
وَلَقَدْ رَآهُ نَزْلَةً أُخْرَىٰ ( 13 )
Walaqad raahu nazlatan okhra
عِندَ سِدْرَةِ الْمُنتَهَىٰ ( 14 )
AAinda sidrati almuntaha
عِندَهَا جَنَّةُ الْمَأْوَىٰ ( 15 )
AAindaha jannatu alma/wa
إِذْ يَغْشَى السِّدْرَةَ مَا يَغْشَىٰ ( 16 )
Ith yaghsha assidratama yaghsha
مَا زَاغَ الْبَصَرُ وَمَا طَغَىٰ ( 17 )
Ma zagha albasaru wamatagha
لَقَدْ رَأَىٰ مِنْ آيَاتِ رَبِّهِ الْكُبْرَىٰ ( 18 )
Laqad raa min ayatirabbihi alkubra
أَفَرَأَيْتُمُ اللَّاتَ وَالْعُزَّىٰ ( 19 )
Afaraaytumu allata walAAuzza
وَمَنَاةَ الثَّالِثَةَ الْأُخْرَىٰ ( 20 )
Wamanata aththalithataal-okhra
أَلَكُمُ الذَّكَرُ وَلَهُ الْأُنثَىٰ ( 21 )
Alakumu aththakaru walahual-ontha
تِلْكَ إِذًا قِسْمَةٌ ضِيزَىٰ ( 22 )
Tilka ithan qismatun deeza
إِنْ هِيَ إِلَّا أَسْمَاءٌ سَمَّيْتُمُوهَا أَنتُمْ وَآبَاؤُكُم مَّا أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ بِهَا مِن سُلْطَانٍ ۚ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا الظَّنَّ وَمَا تَهْوَى الْأَنفُسُ ۖ وَلَقَدْ جَاءَهُم مِّن رَّبِّهِمُ الْهُدَىٰ ( 23 )
In hiya illa asmaonsammaytumooha antum waabaokum maanzala Allahu biha min sultanin inyattabiAAoona illa aththanna wamatahwa al-anfusu walaqad jaahum min rabbihimu alhuda
أَمْ لِلْإِنسَانِ مَا تَمَنَّىٰ ( 24 )
Am lil-insani ma tamanna
فَلِلَّهِ الْآخِرَةُ وَالْأُولَىٰ ( 25 )
Falillahi al-akhiratu wal-oola
وَكَم مِّن مَّلَكٍ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ لَا تُغْنِي شَفَاعَتُهُمْ شَيْئًا إِلَّا مِن بَعْدِ أَن يَأْذَنَ اللَّهُ لِمَن يَشَاءُ وَيَرْضَىٰ ( 26 )
Wakam min malakin fee assamawatila tughnee shafaAAatuhum shay-an illa minbaAAdi an ya/thana Allahu liman yashao wayarda
إِنَّ الَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْآخِرَةِ لَيُسَمُّونَ الْمَلَائِكَةَ تَسْمِيَةَ الْأُنثَىٰ ( 27 )
Inna allatheena la yu/minoonabil-akhirati layusammoona almala-ikatatasmiyata al-ontha
وَمَا لَهُم بِهِ مِنْ عِلْمٍ ۖ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا الظَّنَّ ۖ وَإِنَّ الظَّنَّ لَا يُغْنِي مِنَ الْحَقِّ شَيْئًا ( 28 )
Wama lahum bihi min AAilmin inyattabiAAoona illa aththanna wa-innaaththanna la yughnee mina alhaqqishay-a
فَأَعْرِضْ عَن مَّن تَوَلَّىٰ عَن ذِكْرِنَا وَلَمْ يُرِدْ إِلَّا الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا ( 29 )
FaaAArid AAan man tawalla AAanthikrina walam yurid illa alhayataaddunya
ذَٰلِكَ مَبْلَغُهُم مِّنَ الْعِلْمِ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنِ اهْتَدَىٰ ( 30 )
Thalika mablaghuhum mina alAAilmiinna rabbaka huwa aAAlamu biman dalla AAan sabeelihiwahuwa aAAlamu bimani ihtada
وَلِلَّهِ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ لِيَجْزِيَ الَّذِينَ أَسَاءُوا بِمَا عَمِلُوا وَيَجْزِيَ الَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا بِالْحُسْنَى ( 31 )
Walillahi ma fee assamawatiwama fee al-ardi liyajziya allatheena asaoobima AAamiloo wayajziya allatheena ahsanoobilhusna
الَّذِينَ يَجْتَنِبُونَ كَبَائِرَ الْإِثْمِ وَالْفَوَاحِشَ إِلَّا اللَّمَمَ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ وَاسِعُ الْمَغْفِرَةِ ۚ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِكُمْ إِذْ أَنشَأَكُم مِّنَ الْأَرْضِ وَإِذْ أَنتُمْ أَجِنَّةٌ فِي بُطُونِ أُمَّهَاتِكُمْ ۖ فَلَا تُزَكُّوا أَنفُسَكُمْ ۖ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنِ اتَّقَىٰ ( 32 )
Allatheena yajtaniboona kaba-iraal-ithmi walfawahisha illa allamama innarabbaka wasiAAu almaghfirati huwa aAAlamu bikum ithanshaakum mina al-ardi wa-ith antum ajinnatun feebutooni ommahatikum fala tuzakkoo anfusakumhuwa aAAlamu bimani ittaqa
أَفَرَأَيْتَ الَّذِي تَوَلَّىٰ ( 33 )
Afaraayta allathee tawalla
وَأَعْطَىٰ قَلِيلًا وَأَكْدَىٰ ( 34 )
WaaAAta qaleelan waakda
أَعِندَهُ عِلْمُ الْغَيْبِ فَهُوَ يَرَىٰ ( 35 )
aAAindahu AAilmu alghaybi fahuwa yara
أَمْ لَمْ يُنَبَّأْ بِمَا فِي صُحُفِ مُوسَىٰ ( 36 )
Am lam yunabba/ bima fee suhufimoosa
وَإِبْرَاهِيمَ الَّذِي وَفَّىٰ ( 37 )
Wa-ibraheema allathee waffa
أَلَّا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِزْرَ أُخْرَىٰ ( 38 )
Alla taziru waziratun wizraokhra
وَأَن لَّيْسَ لِلْإِنسَانِ إِلَّا مَا سَعَىٰ ( 39 )
Waan laysa lil-insani illa masaAAa
وَأَنَّ سَعْيَهُ سَوْفَ يُرَىٰ ( 40 )
Waanna saAAyahu sawfa yura
ثُمَّ يُجْزَاهُ الْجَزَاءَ الْأَوْفَىٰ ( 41 )
Thumma yujzahu aljazaa al-awfa
وَأَنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ الْمُنتَهَىٰ ( 42 )
Waanna ila rabbika almuntaha
وَأَنَّهُ هُوَ أَضْحَكَ وَأَبْكَىٰ ( 43 )
Waannahu huwa adhaka waabka
وَأَنَّهُ هُوَ أَمَاتَ وَأَحْيَا ( 44 )
Waannahu huwa amata waahya
وَأَنَّهُ خَلَقَ الزَّوْجَيْنِ الذَّكَرَ وَالْأُنثَىٰ ( 45 )
Waannahu khalaqa azzawjayni aththakarawal-ontha
مِن نُّطْفَةٍ إِذَا تُمْنَىٰ ( 46 )
Min nutfatin itha tumna
وَأَنَّ عَلَيْهِ النَّشْأَةَ الْأُخْرَىٰ ( 47 )
Waanna AAalayhi annash-ata al-okhra
وَأَنَّهُ هُوَ أَغْنَىٰ وَأَقْنَىٰ ( 48 )
Waannahu huwa aghna waaqna
وَأَنَّهُ هُوَ رَبُّ الشِّعْرَىٰ ( 49 )
Waannahu huwa rabbu ashshiAAra
وَأَنَّهُ أَهْلَكَ عَادًا الْأُولَىٰ ( 50 )
Waannahu ahlaka AAadan al-oola
وَثَمُودَ فَمَا أَبْقَىٰ ( 51 )
Wathamooda fama abqa
وَقَوْمَ نُوحٍ مِّن قَبْلُ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا هُمْ أَظْلَمَ وَأَطْغَىٰ ( 52 )
Waqawma noohin min qablu innahum kanoohum athlama waatgha
وَالْمُؤْتَفِكَةَ أَهْوَىٰ ( 53 )
Walmu/tafikata ahwa
فَغَشَّاهَا مَا غَشَّىٰ ( 54 )
Faghashshaha ma ghashsha
فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكَ تَتَمَارَىٰ ( 55 )
Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbika tatamara
هَٰذَا نَذِيرٌ مِّنَ النُّذُرِ الْأُولَىٰ ( 56 )
Hatha natheerun mina annuthurial-oola
أَزِفَتِ الْآزِفَةُ ( 57 )
Azifati al-azifat
لَيْسَ لَهَا مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ كَاشِفَةٌ ( 58 )
Laysa laha min dooni Allahi kashifat
أَفَمِنْ هَٰذَا الْحَدِيثِ تَعْجَبُونَ ( 59 )
Afamin hatha alhadeethitaAAjaboon
وَتَضْحَكُونَ وَلَا تَبْكُونَ ( 60 )
Watadhakoona wala tabkoon
وَأَنتُمْ سَامِدُونَ ( 61 )
Waantum samidoon
فَاسْجُدُوا لِلَّهِ وَاعْبُدُوا ۩ ( 62 )
Fasjudoo lillahi waAAbudoo

- WHY DO WE PRAY?Why does Man need to Pray?. After a long and hectic day at work, how difficult it is for a tired person to stand on the prayer-mat and concentrate on his prayers to Allah Almighty. Snuggled in a warm and cozy bed, how difficult it is to get up at the call of Mu’adhdhin: “Come to prayer, come to success.” The famous doctor and philosopher Ibn Sina (Avicenna), recalls such a moment in his life. Once cold and icy night, he and his slave were resting in an inn in a remote part of Khurasan. During the night he felt thirsty and shouted out to his slave to get him some water. The salve had no desire to leave his warm bed, so he pretended not to hear Avicenna’s call. But finally after repeated calls he reluctantly got up and went to fetch the water. A little while later, the melodious sound of the Adhan filled the air. Avicenna began to think about the person calling the believers to prayer.
